Halloween Haunt

This year David and I decided we wanted to do something extra fun for Halloween. We had heard about Halloween Haunt from some people and checked out reviews, which were good. We were a little disappointed it was so expensive and decided not to go unless we found tickets that were more affordable. We lucked out and found Costco was selling tickets for half the price. Halloween Haunt is kind of like Wild waves during Halloween in Washington but much bigger. They transform Great America into a creepy Halloween theme park with mazes, scare zones, rides, and shows.

In the park there were 6 mazes to go through.
Werewolf canyon, slaughterhouse, Carn Evil, Toy Factory, Cornstalkers, and Club blood (the vampire attraction). All were equally creepy, weird and gross.
The scariest thing though are all the people they hire to walk around the park to scare visitors. They walk right up to you out of no where in really creepy costumes. Apparently "they won't touch you if you don't touch them" but they aren't afraid to block your path and get right in your face...ek!

We had a lot of fun! Definitely something to go and do at least once!

Fall 2010

Time for an update. We recently were generously given a leather couch from David's Aunt Holly and Uncle Chuck. I was soooo HAPPY to be able to warm up the apartment. I've been complaining to David that I thought our apartment looked more like a college bachelor pad than a home. Thanks Holly and Chuck!

This last weekend for Conference I decided I wanted to work on something while listening. So I headed to Michael's to buy watercolor supplies. At home in Washington this was a Sunday tradition, to wake up and watercolor Sunday morning before church. I tried but quickly gave up. I just couldn't compete with all my sisters talents and frankly I just stunk at it. So I decided maybe enough time has passed and somehow I'll be miraculously better at the whole painting thing. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case. I guess I need quite a bit more practice.

Here are some of my first attempts. For Halloween of course!

David's portrait while watching conference comfortably on the bean bag.
I am also trying to grow some herbs. Sadly they are wimpy and growing mold. :(
